The Database Administrator and Reporting Manager leads a team of DBAs and Report Developers. The Manager owns the overall approach to database administration for the Business Systems team and is responsible for optimizing the use of database technology to provide a fast and stable database environment. The Manager is also responsible for designing and maintaining a data warehouse strategy to facilitate reporting across the various services supported by the Business Systems team.
We would expect from you to:
Provide line management and leadership for a team of database administrators and report developers.
Develop a uniform approach to database server sizing, maintenance, and monitoring.
Advise development teams on appropriate database server deployment and configuration.
Develop an approach to warehousing data for reporting purposes so that the Business Systems team can provide a single source of truth for data requested by our users and stakeholders.
Work with the service teams and business stakeholders to implement a common reporting solution across our services.
Manage the fulfillment of reporting requests from users and service teams.
Implement industry best practices to optimize database performance and reliability.
Assist in troubleshooting issues around database performance, availability, and integrity.
Plan a roadmap for staying current on database server versions and plan upgrades in coordination with the service teams.
Manage testing of patches to ensure compatibility with the database environment.
Our ideal match has:
5+ years of experience in database management.
2+ years of people management experience.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution, or 10+ years of work experience in a related role.
SQL Server administration, including high availability and performance tuning.
Experience with a variety of reporting solutions, such as SQL Server Reporting Service and Power BI.
Experience configuring and maintaining a data warehouse.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to organize competing priorities and meet parallel deadlines.
Exceptionally strong organizational and collaboration skills.
Proven ability to set clear strategy, direction and goals.
Oracle Database administration experience is preferred.
IBM DB2 administration experience is a plus.
Familiarity with Intellectual Property management.
Familiarity with GDPR requirements, ITAR requirements, and ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 controls.
Experience supporting internal or external audits.
