The Data Engineer will be responsible for defining and performing data migrations/conversions from legacy back office system to a new, cloud-based platform; as well as creating and maintaining the databases environments in use.
We would expect from you to:
Support data architect in data analysis of legacy systems.
Help shape and implement the transition process from a business perspective as well as the technical aspects of the migration.
Be a hands-on contributor to the data migration process – building databases, writing migration scripts and working with developers and testers to ensure the migration is successful.
Closely collaborate with technology team and test team to ensure correctness and success of conversion process.
You’ll need demonstrable exposure in MS SQL Server (2012 or later).
You have prior exposure to large-scale data migration and transformation projects.
As we are a globally distributed, English speaking company, so strong oral and written communication skills in English are essential.
The technology is constantly evolving, and so you must show a curiosity about innovation, and an ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly.
We are an agile team, so experience of agile practices and particularly DevOps are beneficial.
We operate a hybrid cloud environment, so you’ll benefit from extensive hands-on experience implementing data solutions in either AWS or Azure.
Experience in a SQL Server DBA role.
Experience with Azure database services e.g: SQL Database, Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Migration Services.
Experience with SSIS or equivalent.
Experience with SSRS, PowerBI or other reporting services.
You have experience with ETL platforms (e.g. Actian Data Connect or Talend) and respective scripting languages.
Having a flexible approach to solving data problems means understanding diverse technologies within the data domain. Experience with NoSQL technology such as MongoDB would be great.
Our legacy platforms have a range of database technologies and we want to explore open source database technology, so experience with a range of RDBMS technologies, e.g. IBM DB2, MySQL, PostgreSQL would be very useful.
We handle some of our customer’s most valuable data, and have some regulatory concerns, so experience of compliance requirements in Cloud environments (e.g. SOC2, ISO27001, PCI/DSS, GDPR) would be useful.
We are an intellectual property company, prior experience with Patents or Trademarks would be helpful.
As we are scattered all over the globe, and VC only gets us so far, there may be an occasional need for you to travel for workshops and meetings, predominantly within Europe, but potentially farther afield.
A knowledgeable, high-achieving, experienced and fun team.
The chance to be part of a rapidly growing company and the next success story.
Free and healthy meals for all our colleagues.
Private health insurance.
We take care of the people we hire and the teams we build. We mind.
