The Development Manager leads a team of developers across a variety of custom and commercial off-the-shelf applications. The Development Manager works closing with Service Delivery teams to prioritize tasks, gather requirements, and deliver enhancements, bug fixes, and new software tools. The Development Manager owns the overall approach to development for the Business Systems team and is responsible for maintaining an efficient, secure, and stable software development life cycle.
We would expect from you to:
Provide line management and leadership for a team of developers.
Develop and maintain an approach to the software development life cycle that meets industry and company standards and supports the efficient delivery of high-quality code.
Become familiar with the key services supported by IT in order to understand the user experience for these services.
Work with Service Delivery teams to prioritize development activities.
Manage allocation of work to the development team and maintain a standard release cycle.
Standardize source control and build processes.
Provide estimates for development activities.
Work with Service Delivery and Application Administration teams to ensure service architectures are documented.
Plan a roadmap for staying current on framework and dependency versions and plan upgrades in coordination with the service teams.
Work with Head of Business Systems to guide custom applications into a standard language, architecture, naming convention, etc.
Our ideal match has:
5+ years of experience in software development.
2+ years of people management experience.
A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field from an accredited institution, or 10+ years of work experience in a related role.
2+ years of experience in .Net development.
Experience configuring IIS, including DNS, SSL, and load balancing concepts.
Solid understanding of SQL concepts, data model design, and query syntax.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Demonstrated ability to organize competing priorities and meet parallel deadlines.
Exceptionally strong organizational and collaboration skills.
Proven ability to set clear strategy, direction and goals.
DB2/COBOL development experience is a plus.
Familiarity with Intellectual Property management.
Familiarity with GDPR requirements, ITAR requirements, and ISO 27001 and ISO 9001 controls.
A broad technical understanding of a wide range of platforms and technologies.
